Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Paid Signal (“Paid Signal”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with our website at paidsignal.app and the Paid Signal service (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
Contents
1. Who we are
Paid Signal provides a service that helps online merchants send a verified “paid” signal to their advertising channels, so those channels can optimise on real, collected revenue. This Policy applies to personal information we process as a controller in connection with the Service. If you have questions, contact us at info@paidsignal.app.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide to us
When you contact us through our website form or by email, we collect the details you submit — such as your name, work email address, company, store or website URL, primary market, monthly ad spend range, and the contents of your message. If you become a customer, we also collect account and billing details.
Store and order data used to provide the Service
To deliver the Service we process data from the store and advertising accounts you connect. This is limited to what is needed to confirm a payment and report on it:
- Hashed customer identifiers. Identity fields (email address, phone number, name, city) are hashed with SHA-256 before they are written to storage. We hold only the hash, which cannot be reversed back to the original value — we cannot read it, and neither can anyone with database access. The hash is the form the advertising platforms require in order to match a conversion to a user.
- Order metadata. Order identifiers, value, currency, paid status and timestamps, so we can confirm a payment, prevent an event from firing twice, and show you an order-by-order record of what was sent.
- We never store card or payment credentials. Card numbers, CVVs and equivalent payment details are never collected, transmitted or stored by Paid Signal.
For this store and customer data, you are the controller and Paid Signal acts as a processor on your behalf: we process it only to provide the Service to you and on your instructions, and we do not use it for our own purposes or to build any independent profile of your customers.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, we and our providers may automatically collect standard technical data such as your device and browser type, pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location derived from your IP address, and interactions with the site, through cookies and similar technologies.
3. How we use information
- To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
- To provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To process billing, manage subscriptions, and prevent fraud.
- To secure the Service and protect our rights and users.
- To send you service-related communications, and — where you have opted in — updates and marketing you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases (where the GDPR applies)
We rely on one or more of the following: your consent; performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service (balanced against your rights); and compliance with a legal obligation.
5. Cookies & tracking technologies
We use essential cookies to run the site and, where permitted, analytics cookies to understand usage and improve the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the site works.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed:
- Service providers who help us operate the Service (for example, hosting, analytics, and payment processing), under contracts that protect your data.
- Advertising platforms (such as Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, and Google) strictly to deliver the optimisation you have configured for your own accounts. What is transmitted is a conversion event containing hashed identifiers plus order value and currency — never raw email addresses, phone numbers or payment details. Each platform then handles that data under its own terms.
- Legal and safety reasons, where required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described here — for example, to answer your enquiry, provide the Service, or meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements — after which we delete or anonymise it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. Customer identity data is hashed with SHA-256 before storage, so a database compromise would not expose readable email addresses, phone numbers or names, and no card or payment credentials exist in our systems to expose. Data is encrypted in transit. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for such transfers.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. If you are a California resident, you may have rights to know, delete, and opt out of the “sale” of personal information (we do not sell it), and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@paidsignal.app. We will respond as required by applicable law.
11. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Third-party links & platforms
Our site and Service may link to or work alongside third-party platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, which are governed by their own policies.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date, and we will provide additional notice where required.
